ABSTRACT
Anterior uveitis is a common extra‑articular manifestation of rheumatic diseases, predominantly associated with spondyloarthropathies. In case of recurrent or chronic anterior uveitis, and unsatisfactory response to treatment with topical or systemic glucocorticoids during flares, the ophthalmologist in close cooperation with the attending rheumatologist can decide to start or modify long-term treatment with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs).
