ABSTRACT
Evaluation of long-term effects of treatment of chronic joint diseases presents difficulties for rheumatologists and for the field of rheumatology in general. Notional and research categories of public health, health economics, sociology of health and health policy can help in this task.
In this article worldwide attempts at a comprehensive approach towards the possibilities of return of rheumatic persons to occupational activity are presented.
Poland is participating in these studies; the research assumptions are being adapted to conditions in this country.
Rheumatic people workforce was a leading subject matter at the session devoted to World Arthritis Day during the First National Rheumatological Meeting organized in Lodz on 8–10 October 2009. This article constitutes a summary of this session, expanding on this subject.
