ABSTRACT
The article presents problems, common for all European countries regarding rheumatological postgraduate education of primary care physicians. Every eighth patient of the family physician declares rheumatological problems, which demands knowledge, skills and special attitude. Continuing education of the General Practitioner must be relevant to his professional competence. He needs to acquire and update the knowledge to manage common rheumatic diseases and to learn when to ask for help. He should know how to deal with chronic patients.
