ABSTRACT
In the present paper the role of morphometric densitometry (vertebral fracture assessment – VFA) in diagnosis of vertebral fracture, with its advantages and disadvantages, is described. Attention is paid to use of VFA to make a decision concerning treatment in osteoporosis. This is an attractive diagnostic tool because of its low radiation dose, short time of examination and the possibility to use it simultaneously with bone mineral density examination. The restricted availability of this method justifies recommendation for practical indications for VFA in our everyday practice.
