STRESZCZENIE
Toczeń rumieniowaty układowy (systemic lupus erythematosus – SLE) jest chorobą autoimmunologiczną o nieznanej etiologii. Duża skuteczność leków biologicznych stosowanych u chorych na reumatoidalne zapalenie stawów skłania do poszukiwania leków biologicznych, które umożliwiają leczenie chorych na SLE. Badane są różne przeciwciała: przeciwko rozpuszczalnemu czynnikowi stymulującemu limfocyty B ( B lymphocyte stimulator – BLyS) (belimumab, briobacept, atacicept), przeciwko limfocytom B (rytuksymab, okrelizumab, epratuzumab), hamujące kostymulację limfocytów T (abatacept), tolerogeny, interferon oraz inne. Mimo niektórych zachęcających wyników żaden z tych leków nie znalazł zastosowania w praktyce klinicznej.
